Summary: A waste of money
Comment: Although this book is very cheap it really isn't worth spending a penny on it. It is all text with some cheesy child like drawings and it is out of date. The 'book' (which is more like a pamplet) is not designed well for someone using the Internet for the first time - it is full of metaphors which are more suited to teaching a 5 year old than an adult. It assumes complete stupidity. Don't waste your money, put your money towards buying the 'silver surfer' books (from Age Concern)and/or the 'Rough Guide to the Internet' which are excellent and far better pitched and appropriate for an older first time user.

Summary: A Granma's guide to a Granma's guide to the internet
Comment: I have bought a new computer and while scrolling through Amazon books about computers I found Grandma's guide to the Internet/ It is a very helpful and amusing introduction to using the internet. It explains procedures very clearly, albeit obviously, which is good when you do not like to ask the obvious
! It now has pride of place on the shelf above my computer

Summary: Short but sweet
Comment: This is a great first introduction to what 'a computer' is (This is a mouse, a monitor isn't anything to do with milk monitors etc.), but it doesn't go deep enough to actually let granny do anything. It is a /small/ book, it is only A6 and just 36 pages, so there isn't really room for detail. It might be enough to tempt granny into finding out more though...

Summary: Gives Grandma a chance of conversing with the kids
Comment: A great little book for Grandma's Christmas stocking. It explains all those words that used to make sense and now don't-some of us still think a mouse squeeks, nets are for hair and and a world wide web is one hell of a house cleaning problem.Grandma can get the jargon even if she is not ready to go on line yet and be able to a converse with her grandchildren.

Give your arthritic fingers the freedom of the keyboard with "Grandma's Guide to the Internet".
